Billy Bates Davis, 87

 Billy Bates Davis of New Liberty died Saturday, November 26, at Gallatin Nursing and Rehab in Warsaw. He was 87.
Mr. Davis was a veteran of the Army Reserves. He was a life-long farmer and a founding member of the New Liberty Volunteer Fire Department where he served as chief for seven years and remained an active member into his 70s.
He was also an excellent mechanic and volunteered many hours for local 4-H clubs, teaching tractor mechanics.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Ruth Lewis Davis; two sons, William Steven Davis of Lexington and James Gregory Davis of New Liberty; and three grandchildren.
Visitation was held Tuesday, November 29, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at McDonald & New Funeral Home in Owenton.
Bro. David “Milkweed” Wotier conducted the funeral service immediately following visitation.
Burial was at Owenton Cemetery.
