James Robert Brightwell, 89

 Carrollton resident James Robert Brightwell died Saturday, October 24, at the University of Louisville Hospital. He was 89.
Mr. Brightwell was a member of the Consolidated Second Baptist Church in Warsaw and attended Ghent Second Baptist Church. He was a retired union carpenter.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served during World War II.
Mr. Brightwell enjoyed time with his family, fishing, gardening, nature and bingo.
He is survived by three daughters, Monica Noel Brightwell Ford of Warsaw, Sandra Kay Brightwell Dawkins of Hanover, Indiana and Cynthia Jane Brightwell Ashby of Madison, Indiana; three sons, James Robert “Brother” Brightwell Jr. of Long Beach, California, Mark Copeland “Marco” Brightwell of Alexandria Virginia and Jay Tolliver Brightwell of Los Angeles, California; one brother, Ray E. Livers of Hanover, Indiana; one step-brother, Claude Livers of Cincinnati, Ohio; 16 grandchildren eight great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four sisters, Katherine L. Cheatum, Mary Emily Scruggs, Peggy Jo Branom and Arestine Yates; four brothers, Richard L. (Buzz) Brightwell, Wilford (Brother) Brightwell, Marvin Brightwell, and Eugene Butler (Turk) Brightwell and a stepbrother, Emory Livers.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 28, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home in Carrollton. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, October 29, at Ghent Second Baptist Church.
Burial will be at Ghent Second Baptist Church Cemetery.
