Bernard "Jay" Atha, 88

 Williamstown resident Bernard “Jay” Atha died Wednesday, September 25, at Grant Manor Healthcare. He was 88 years old.
Mr. Atha was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during World War II. He was a Kentucky Colonel, a member of the Walton-Verona Masonic Lodge #719, a farmer, and a carpenter. He retired from his position as a dock worker at Roadway Trucking after 20 years.
He is survived by one sister, Pearl Purnell of Taylor Mill; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Rex Atha; one son, Tony Joe Atha; and one daughter, Diana J. Atha.
Visitation was held Saturday, September 28, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home in Crittenden. A Masonic service was conducted at 3:30 and the funeral followed at 4 p.m. Burial with military honors was at Pleasant View Baptist Church Cemetery.
