OBITUARY


Ralph Baker, 69

 Ralph Baker died Friday, August 2, at his home in Warsaw. He was 69 years old.
Mr. Baker attended school in Boone County and graduated in 1962. He attended the Cincinnati Radio of Broadcasting to become a dee jay. In 1965 he joined the U.S. Army and served for two years as a Green Beret.
In 1984, he married Sandra Kay Wright Baker in Virginia. He worked as a truck driver and was later the Safety Director at Castellini Trucking where he received many awards for achievements in safety. After a 25-year career at Castellini, Mr. Baker retired and later worked for Transport Service. For the past four years, he drove a school bus in Gallatin County.
He served as Mayor of Glencoe for a number of years. His many accomplishments during that time include beginning the process to bring a municipal sewer system to the town and building the City Hall.
He was also a member of Tadmor Lodge and Violet Ridge Church of Christ in Crittenden.
While a member of South Fork Christian Church, Mr. Baker first served as a deacon and then as an elder. He played an instrumental role in getting the new church at South Fork built.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Baker; two sons, Kristopher Shannon Baker and John Edward Baker; one step-son, Thomas Robert Hill; five sisters, Bonnie Mulligan of Indiana, Deborah Marksberry and Pamela Hutchinson of Verona, Patricia Kemper of Ghent and Tina Riddle of Warsaw; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Edward and Thelma Kemper Baker.
A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, August 6, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Violet Ridge Church of Christ. A memorial service will be held from 6 to 7 p.m.
On Wednesday, August 7, at 11 a.m., an Honor Guard Service will be held at the Veterans Memorial North Cemetery in Williamstown.
