Jerry Wright, 62

 Sparta resident Jerry Wright died Sunday, January 20, at Hospice Care Center at St. Joseph in Lexington. He was 62 years old.
Mr. Wright was retired from the Kentucky Department of Transportation. He was a mechanic at the Carroll County State Barn for 27 years. He was also a farmer, a member of the Baptist faith, and a mechanic. He built his first engine when he was only 15 years old. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, boating, and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Myrtie Wilson Wright; three sons, Jeremy, Wesley and Jason Wright; one daughter, Jessica Wilder; three brothers, Thurman “Tommy” Wright, Ralph “Junie” Wright, and Ura Wayne “Moochie” Wright; one sister, Brenda Sue Howard; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Marvin Eddie Wright, and one sister, Nellie Jane Wright.
Visitation will be held Thursday, January 24, from 4 to 8 p.m. at McDonald & New Funeral Home in Owenton.
The funeral service will be held Friday, January 25, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Bluegrass or the American Lung Association.
