Bessie Lee Friis, 85

 Former Warsaw resident Bessie Lee Friis died Saturday, May 1, 2010, at her daughter’s home in Steedman, MO. She was 85 years old.
Mrs. Friis graduated from Gallatin County High School and worked for Wright Aeronautical in Cincinnati during World War II. After moving to Waterloo, IA, she worked at Allen Memorial Hospital until she retired in 1984.
She was a member of Cedar Valley Community Church and a Red Cross volunteer.
She is survived by one daughter, Faith Woodson of Steedman, MO; two sons, Joseph Leist of Crittenden and Arthur “Sonny” Friis of Cedar Rapids, IA; seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret Oder of Springfield, OH and Gertrude Richerson of Crittenden. She was preceded in death by her first husband, William Leist; second husband Eugene Clinton Friis; three children, Hazel Ann Friis Link, Mary Alice Leist and William Alfred Leist; two brothers, Bud and Joe Richerson; and two sisters, Lillian Richerson and Irene Crawley.
Funeral services were held in Waterloo and burial was in Marathon, IA.
