Mary Esther Dehner Brooks, 78

 Sparta resident Mary Esther Dehner Brooks died Friday, August 26, at St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Edgewood. She was 78 years old.
Mrs. Brooks was a machine operator for Duro Bag Co. She was a member of the New Life Church of God in Glencoe and enjoyed playing the piano in church. She was a former member of the Florence Community Church of the Nazarene.
She is survived by three daughters, Betty Eckler of Burlington, Mary Ahlers of Sparta and Charlene Lowe of Independence; one son, Phillip Dalhover of Sanders; two brothers, David Dehner of Florence and James Dehner of Boston, Massachusetts; 18 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by two sons, Kelvin Wayne Dalhover and William Dalhover; one daughter Valeria Brown; and her husband, Jesse J. Brooks.
Visitation was held Friday, September 2, from 11 a.m. until 12 noon at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home in Florence. The funeral service was held immediately following visitation. Burial was at Floral Hills Cemetery in Taylor Mill.
